June has always been the quintessential wedding month. With longer days, warm summer evenings, and beautiful golden light, it sets the perfect backdrop for a romantic wedding in Sicily.

When Alessandra and Luca were looking for a wedding photographer in Messina, they knew they wanted a specific balance: a candid, photojournalistic approach paired with a touch of editorial flair. After meeting with several photographers without finding the right fit, a recommendation from a cousin led them to my portfolio.

Planning for dark spaces and seamless timelines

We met over a relaxed spritz in Roccalumera to discuss their vision and plan the logistics for the day.

One of the main logistical challenges was the groom’s preparation. Luca stands at nearly two meters tall, and his getting-ready space was dark and tight on natural light. By focusing on creative angles and composition, we turned potential lighting challenges into dramatic, timeless portraits.

In contrast, Alessandra’s preparation took place in a spacious, light-filled home, leading smoothly into an all-in-one venue setup designed to eliminate downtime for guests.

A romantic ceremony at Castello Pensabene, Protonotaro

The ceremony and reception took place at Castello Pensabene in Protonotaro, Messina—a historic fortress nestled between the mountains and the sea. The historic stone walls under the June sun created an intimate, fairytale atmosphere, offering an incredible alternative to Taormina.

Alessandra and Luca held a symbolic outdoor ceremony in the garden, exchanging personal vows surrounded by family and friends.

Golden Hour Portraits & Outdoor Dinner

Following the ceremony, we took advantage of the golden hour light for couples’ portraits. Taking a relaxed, non-intrusive approach allowed us to capture genuine emotion and candid moments naturally.

The celebrations concluded in the open-air courtyard with an outdoor dinner and dancing under the stars—a perfect end to an unforgettable day.
