Choosing Their Photographer: A Connection Made in Sicily

Bethan and Tom discovered my wedding photography work thanks to Carmela Guardione, a wedding planner, friend, and owner of Sicilian Bride, who masterfully organized the entire event. After reviewing my photo galleries and connecting over a video call, they chose me to document their special day in Sicily.

Groom Preparation at Belmond Hotel Villa Sant'Andrea

Tom chose to prepare at Hotel Villa Sant’Andrea, where the couple stayed during their week in Sicily. As one of Taormina's most iconic luxury hotels, it sits nestled inside a natural bay along Mazzarò beach.

The groom preferred a relaxed approach to getting ready—skipping overly formal dressing shots in favor of genuine moments sharing a few beers with his closest friends. The tone was informal, festive, and cheerful.

We took advantage of the hotel's elegant indoor bar, located right next to the seaside terrace. The bright midday sun created strong, high-contrast portraits. After a few special shots with Tom’s father, it was time to move to the bride’s location.

Bride Preparation & Venue: Villa Mon Repos

Bethan got ready at Villa Mon Repos, an extraordinary venue that also hosted the wedding ceremony and reception. Perched atop the coast, the villa boasts breathtaking panoramas: Isola Bella on one side, and Mount Etna watching over the Bay of Naxos on the other. Once home to Taormina’s historic casino, this two-story estate features a stunning swimming pool and lush gardens—making it an ideal setting for destination weddings.

Bethan prepared in the master suite, featuring a massive window overlooking Isola Bella that provided perfect natural light for the bridal team. Ellie Connolly and Rosario D’Anna crafted a chic, understated hair and makeup look that highlighted Bethan’s natural features in classic British style.

Her wedding dress mirrored this timeless approach—clean, elegant, and refined, without excessive lace or intricate details. Its simplicity perfectly complemented her magnetic beauty.

An Intimate Ceremony Overlooking the Sea

The ceremony took place on a floating platform set over the pool, suspended between Isola Bella and Mount Etna. The service was intimate and lighthearted, perfectly timed before the late-afternoon sun dipped behind the hills so we could capture the best golden-hour light for their couple portraits.

Following group photos and an outdoor aperitif, we took a few iconic shots with a classic vintage Fiat 500, followed by intimate portraits of Bethan and Tom along the estate grounds.

An Unforgettable Evening Under the Stars

The reception dinner was set in the garden under a starlit sky, with Mount Etna glowing in the distance. Guests enjoyed authentic Sicilian cuisine, heartfelt speeches, and lively toasts. As night fell, the celebration transitioned into an energetic party driven by a joyful group of family and friends.
